Version 1.0 is out, and the Kickstarter is a wrap!!! À chaque contributeur, merci beaucoup!
We made it!!!
It's official! We got to version 1.0! Now, this isn't going to be the last version, I'm going to have a slightly updated version of the game when the cartridges ship. I'm doing this to make sure that the official cartridge version is as 1.) big as it can be and 2.) is bug-free. I understand I may get a few bug notes shortly after launch, so I want to be ready for that. I also want to include additional language support, since we hit that stretch goal.
HOWEVER, this is it! I've finalized the art, the gameplay, most of the engine, the story, and now even the credits. This is the version I feel comfortable sharing with the world and with potential publishers. I think you guys will enjoy this.
To clarify, it will only be available on Itch.io for the time being. Other places coming soon!
State of the Switch / Steam version
Nintendo hasn't gotten back with me, and part of this is because single developers typically don't get accepted. I was waiting for this build to share it with potential publishers to see who may be interested. If I have another name behind me, then I've got a great shot of getting this on Switch.
As for Steam, I purchased the license! I've designed all the banner and promo art I need for Steam, and I've even got a page drafted. If you're curious, you can check out the GitHub, I've actually stored all the promo images right there in the repository. However, I'm a bit of a dumbass, and it's taking me a little while to figure out how to actually upload a binary. Fortunately, these delays have led to a great idea.
That's right - I'm going to do my best to make a native port! And since the new cutscenes were made with vector artwork, you can expect 1080p cutscenes on PC and full CD-quality music. We'll see how it goes! I can't promise it'll be out super soon, but I'll do my best once the final version is out.
We're on track for a fun future!
So, what are you working on now?
Well, remember that short video I promised with each of the voiced characters thanking $50+ backers? I've already started the group chat with the actors! It'll be out in just a bit, and I'll send out an update when it's there. Feel free to subscribe to my YouTube channel if you want to see it right away - Cinemint - YouTube .
The Spanish translation is just about done!! I've just got to incorporate it into the source code. Don't worry - it won't be a different ROM, all the translations will be in the same ROM. They aren't there for the current build, but they'll be there by the time the cartridges ship.
As for the cartridges themselves, I've ordered a Joey Jr. and eight test cartridges. Once I get the process figured out, it's time to make 150+ cartridges in the same way.
Anything else we should know?
Please feel free to message me at any point!! If you have any suggestions, you want to share anything, including bugs or issues, if you have questions about the source code, or you just want to hang out, don't forget to check out my Discord server! The Tremblay Island Discord server
Until next time, au revoir!
